Orihuela council has recruit 121 locally unemployed people on a 3 month contract in which they will be used to clear roads and pathways, as well as cleaning streets and urban areas in Orihuela Ciudad, on the coast and around the local districts.

The employment was arranged through a grant made available by the SEPE (State Employment Service).

The service will also be supported by a company that will carry out the removal of the waste accumulated from the cleaning operation which will also provide each worker with individual protection equipment, as well as the tools necessary for the work to be carried out.

The workers have been organised into eleven teams that will act under the supervision of a foreman and the coordination of municipal manager.

The workers were briefed by Councillor Victor Valverde, at the Auditorium of La Lonja who welcomed them to the staff of the municipal corporation.
