The Irish lotto was launched in the late 1980s and it has gone on to raise more than €4.9 billion for good causes, funding projects in sport, recreation, health, welfare, arts, national heritage and the Irish language.
There are currently two draws each week – Wednesday and Saturday – and the Irish Lotto results and winning numbers are usually made available online shortly afterwards. The Irish Lotto draw takes place every Wednesday and Saturday at around 8pm (GMT).
To participate in the Irish Lottery, players must choose six numbers from a 1-47 guess range. In order to win the Irish Lottery jackpot, you need to match the six main numbers selected in the draw. In addition, a bonus ball is also drawn from the remaining numbers resulting in a total of eight prize tiers. The odds of winning the Irish lotto by matching all 6 balls is 1 in 10,737,573.
