It broke out just before 5pm very close to the Lagosal and las Torretas urbanisation where it affected salt marsh and reed vegetation on the northeast shore of the Torrevieja lagoon.

Fortunately it was brought under control by the emergency services with the only casualties being the flora, fauna and wildlife that previously occupied the area.

‘British tourists will be welcomed back to Spain from June as long as they have a digital vaccine certificate or a negative PCR test, Fernando Valdes, the country’s secretary of state for tourism, said last week. UK transport secretary Grant Shapps said that the British Government will confirm in early May if non-essential international travel can resume on May 17.
