Between April 6 and 18, the ‘1·1·2 Comunitat Valenciana’ emergency telephone number has received a total of 125,790 calls, which has resulted in the management of 28,450 incidents. 59% (16,791) are related to health issues, followed by those related to safety, 17% (4,830).

By provinces, it has been in Valencia where the most incidents have occurred, 13,984, followed by Alicante with 10,798 and Castellón 3,292.

The Emergency Coordination Centre of the Generalitat has coordinated the extinction of up to 50 fires during this period. Of these, 21 have occurred on forest land, the Villanueva de Viver one being the longest in time, the one that has mobilised the most resources and has produced the greatest impact on the territory. The one from Alzira that was declared on Friday the 14th is still active, although this Sunday it was considered controlled.

The rest of the fires, up to 29, are of vegetation and have not affected forest land. Most of them occurred on Wednesday the 12th when the Emergency Coordination Centre had established pre-emergency level 3 due to fire risk coinciding with the high temperatures and the west wind.

Since April 18, the Generalitat Firefighters and Forest Firefighters have carried out nearly 800 services. They have also carried out 50 preventive services and have participated in some 9 rescue actions (mountain rescue, assistance to people, falling trees, etc.). The interventions in this period double those carried out during the first semester of 2022.

The Emergency Centre has coordinated a total of 18 rescues and searches for hikers during the Holy Week and Easter holidays, of which 5 rescues coincided on Sunday, April 9.

In these interventions, the intervention of the Generalitat’s medical helicopter is frequent to participate in the health care of people who get lost or are injured practicing hiking or sports in nature. The lack of adequate equipment or ignorance of the terrain are usually the main trigger for incidents.
