The British Ambassador, Simon Manley, held an event at the Melia Hotel in Alicante on Tuesday 21st May to say thank you to all the Volunteers from different expat groups here on the Costa Blanca who, in his words “Have helped enable him and the consulate staff here in Spain to do their jobs.”  HELP President Christine Baillie and HELP Office Manager Joan Mitchell represented HELP Murcia Mar Menor at the event, and took the opportunity to mingle with the other charity workers whilst enjoying the drinks and canapes supplied on the hotel terrace.

Simon Manley, who will be stepping down this summer, has represented the Queen here in Spain since 2013, was educated at Oxford and Yale  before joining the British F.C.O., has a Spanish wife Maria Isabel and three daughters said “ He had no idea what he would be doing next but was looking forward to a new challenge having enjoyed his life in Spain for the last five years.”

HELP has been asked many times by the British Consulate to help both expats and visitors to the Mar Menor area who have required our assistance and, thankfully,  the Charity has always been able to give the support and assistance required and will continue to do so to the best of it’s ability.
