A 44-year-old male was transferred to the Los Arcos del Mar Menor Hospital on Tuesday following the explosion of a boat he was working on in an industrial warehouse on Santiago de la Ribera where his condition was said to superficial.

A second man, believed to be 50 years of age, was also injured in the explosion and moved to La Arrixaca where he was treated with severe burns.

One of the injured men is the owner of the family business boat repair business, which has its main showroom on la avenida de la Estación although the explosion occurred in warehouse a short distance away.

However it was a company employee who was injured with the serious burns, as a result of which he was transferred to the Virgen de la Arrixaca Hospital in Murcia, where they have a Burns Unit. The owner, with minor injuries, was admitted to the emergency room of the Los Arcos hospital following the accident.

Just after 10 o’clock in the morning, the emergency service 112 received notice of the explosion on an industrial estate located next to the airport road. The incident was attended by patrols of the Civil Guard and Local Police, firemen and ambulances with paramedics.
