A meeting was held last week to prepare council staff and residents for the start of the 74th edition of La Vuelta a España which will get underway in Torrevieja on Saturday the 24th of August 2019.

The Gran Salida, which is likely to be a time trial, will be from Las Salinas de Torrevieja, the Natural Park with pink-hued water lagoons which the Councilor for Tourism, Fanny Serrano, said is excellent news, “but has very specific characteristics that will require extensive work at the administrative level to put it everything in order, so that the start, which will be beamed across the world, is a big success”.

Torrevieja mayor, José Manuel Dolón, added that ” the time trial route from the lakes and through the town in particular, should be as safe as possible with the least inconvenience to both cyclists and to the residents in general”.

The meeting was attended by technical officers from ‘La Vuelta’ as well as the mayor, José Manuel Dolón, the Councilor for Tourism, Fanny Serrano, Sports Councilor, Víctor Ferrández, and Councilor for NGOs and Volunteering, Carmen Morate.

At the end of the meeting, Serrano explained that “we continue to work together in order to ensure that the technical details will ensure that La Vuelta Ciclista a España 2019 has one of the best starts in its history”.
