Our competition for Friday 9th November was a Stableford, sponsored by Shaun O’Gorman. We were greeted by generally clement weather but also a howling northerly, so there were more wooly hats than knees on display.

The scoring was predictably low given the difficult conditions – with a CBA rating of minus 2 – and there was only one player who conquered the adjusted par, Stella Fox, whose 35 points beat the field by 3 shots and collected first prize. Four players tied on 32 points, with Sally Cottrell claiming second place, Gordon Gleeson third and Liz Buttler fourth, all decided on  countback.

Dave Fotheringham was the unlucky one to miss out with this score, but he did manage to grab the nearest the pin prize on the fifth hole, his second shot just one meter from the target. Even better still, new member John Ross won the other NTP prize on the par 3 16th with a fantastic shot to just 19cm.

In concluding his presentation of prizes, Shaun thanked the Committee for the work they do in arranging the weekly competitions throughout the year and presented them with some home-made shortbread cookies.
