Played at Oliva Nova on Tuesday 23rd of October 2018

If this golf today had been played in Javea, it would have been washed out, but in Oliva Nova there was no rain during the night and early morning, and we had the best conditions possible for out golf tournament. The course is slowly coming back to its best, even though the fairways were very long with the new grass planted, but there are definite signs of improvement, so thank you Oliva Nova. We were delighted to have two guests today, and they were Kevin Newman and Michael Jones, and they were warmly welcomed by our Captain for 2018, namely Mr David Phillips

In the competition the winners were as follows:-

1st Place with 73 Points was Michael Connelly and Celia Cronin.

2nd Place with 73 Points was Malcolm Wise and Peter Cornes (beaten on count back)

3rd Place with 69 Points, was Andrew Harrison and Fiona Sankey

4th Place with 65 Points was Russ Peters and Paul Trigwell

Well played to all the winners, especially to Michael and Celia, with a great total today.

Nearest the pin at Hole No 5 with their second shot was Michel Grin with a super shot in, of 1.44 meters, and at Hole 16, the winner was Colin Foster at 2.55 meters.

There were three two’s today, and they were by the following:- Andrew Harrison, Colin Foster and Keith Pric

The “Balls in the Water” prize was guessed today by Keith Price with 87 balls so many congrats to Keith.

Finally in the match play semi final, John Guest beat Donna Green 4 and 2, and John Evans beat Brian Barden by 3 and 1.

The Captain had a birthday last week, so he presented a bottle of red wine from a card draw to the happy recipient John Nicol.   “ Happy Birthday David”

The biggest congratulations of the week go to Oliva Nova Golf Course, for getting the course into a good but not perfect shape to play our match on today.

Next week, we are playing the Committee Plate, which is one of our major trophies in a Medal Competition, so should you want to join us at Pego, please contact Penny Barden at pegohandicapsec@gmail.com, and we would love to see you.
