A new exhibition of paintings was inaugurated on Easter Sunday at Mojácar’s Municipal “La Fuente” Gallery. Organized by the Town Council’s Culture Department, the show features work by the artists; Anika Samoa, Jorge Juan Gómez and Manuel García de la Torre, with the special assistance of Martin Albers.

Jorge Juan Gómez is a well-known illustrator of comics, with the artist Juan Alvarez. His works, always original and full of character, have been seen in publications on the national and international circuit such as TBO, El Jueves and Penthouse, to name but a few.

For this exhibition, Jorge G, as he is known in the art world, has selected marine themes to demonstrate his mastery and personality with his wonderful use of colour and oil.

Manuel García de la Torre has on display a selection of his works which strongly feature the light and the special atmosphere created around shadows and shade, which contrast the luminosity of the Mediterranean sun. His landscapes and incredibly life like portraits show off his impeccable style and genius with the pastel technique.

Finally, Mojácar resident, Anika Samoa, is displaying some of her pieces, full of freshness and personality. She is one of the promoters and the organizer of the new “Paseo del Arte initiative” which involves artists exhibiting and selling their work on the town’s Paseo Marítimo, with a percentage of the sales donated to selected charities.

The current exhibition is made up of 49 paintings and can be visited free of charge until the end of April from Tuesday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
