Around 200kg of cocaine were discovered in a shipping container yesterday.
When the shipment of almonds was opened at the Altea processing plant, workers found to backpacks which contained packages wrapped in plastic bags.
It is thought that the shipment originated in California but it is unsure as to whether the drugs travelled the whole route or whether they were placed into the container en-route.
The Guardia Civil and local police are investigating the find.
