A 39-year-old Latvian man has been arrested in Benidorm. He is accused of road safety violations and carrying fake documentation.

The man was stopped by Policia Local when he was trying to gain access to the Levante promenade which was closed to vehicles.

The man was asked to provide personal documentation and papers for the vehicle he was driving. The police officer suspected that the documentation was not genuine and called his colleague for assistance to confirm. The second police officer also believed that the documentation was false and the man was arrested.

The man was passed over to the National Police, who have the responsibility of verifying his identity and bringing him to justice.

A training day has been organised by the Policia Local to help them understand how to identify false documentation.
