This annual two day event is proving to be somewhat of a problem Disrupted by bad weather last year, this year saw it spoiled by the late withdrawal of the Costa del Sol team, leaving the Costa Blanca side to battle it out with Almeria at Indalo B.C. The Costa Blanca team also had selection problems with chosen players withdrawing beforehand and having to be replaced.
On arrival at the venue on the morning of the first game, the Costa Blanca captain, Bill Young, then found himself missing 3 selected players. Fortunately there were enough supporters on hand who were qualified to play and they made up the numbers.
From the point of view of the Costa Blanca, this event was poorly organised and a number of complaints have been received about it. The Costa del Sol have been asked to make a decision as to whether they will in the future support this event and the (non- Federation) Tri Provincial tournament. If not it is likely that both events will be at risk of folding altogether.
Despite all the trials and tribulations, there were still two games of bowls to be enjoyed by those present, which were played as in the best spirit and Indalo proved to be excellent hosts as always. Almeria took home the trophy by convincingly winning both games, details of which are shown below.
