Uribe Under Threat Again

The Spanish newspapers are full of speculation that Uribe, the manager of Elche football club may be forced to stand down in the near future.
The club's President, Ramón Sánchez, has made public his displeasure over last week's 4 - 0 defeat at Real Madrid Castilla, as well as the fact that full back Mario missed training the day before that match but was still selected. Sánchez has been at loggerheads with Uribe for some time and only last June it looked as though the manager was on his way out, but the fact that he had a year of his contract remaining probably saved him then.
The talk now is that the manager of the Spanish under 21 team, Iñaki Sáez, will be asked to take over and the football federation have let it be known that they would not object to him taking on a managerial position with a club. Much will ride on the result of Saturday's home game against Almeria, but unless a spectacular run of results is produced it may well be that Uribe will go anyway.
