EUROGOLF 14TH JANUARY
Contributor / 2010-01-15 14:06:17
Quite an eventful day today – what started out to be a pleasantly warm, sunny day to begin with, turned into a really tough day for the late starters, with hurricane force winds blowing trees over, balls falling off tees, and rolling about on the greens….45kmh gusts apparently.
In fact Terry Sayers said he was glad he hadn’t entered into the hang gliding competition today, he would have ended up in Madrid!! But it was nice to be out on the golf course, despite the problems, last Thursday our Monthly Medal had to be cancelled due to very heavy rain. 94 players took part today in the Pairs Betterball Stableford, and, not surprisingly the winners and runners up in today’s competition were out early, so congratulation to them, and well done 3rd & 4th place players who had to contend with the gale force wind and still come in with a great score.
Results:
(All results on Countback)
1st – Manny Niessen & John Langford 42 pts.
2nd – Ian C. Pegg & Alec Relph 41 pts.
3rd – Gordon Bourne & Frances Buckeridge 41 pts
4th – Nigel Wood & Jenny Cheetham 41 pts.
NEAREST THE PINS:
5th – Tony Stanley, 11th – Colin Hobden, 15th – Ian C Pegg, 17th – Sue Gillett
Captain’s Bunker: 5€ - a bit disappointing today – a friendly reminder that if your ball goes in the bunker in front of the 6th green, this is the Captain’s Bunker and a voluntary contribution to his chosen Charity, AECC, would be much appreciated!!!!!!!!
Football Sweep Draw: Barry Ireland, Ray Porter & Bruce Leckey. Observations on the course today: Far too many pitch marks on the greens NOT REPAIRED, and far too many divots NOT REPLACED ……please respect the Golf Course and replace any divots you see and repair pitch marks even if they are not yours. The January Burns Theme Night complete with Haggis and a Piper will be held on Friday January 29th……could be fun seeing all the kilts!!! Booking sheets on the notice board.
Finally, and most importantly, our Captain, Clive is in UK undergoing medical treatment, and hopes to be back by the end of February. Sue Pegg, wife of our Match Secretary is undergoing treatment in hospital at the moment, & Joyce Pohl has not been well recently.
On behalf of the Committee and all members of Eurogolf Society, we wish them all a speedy recovery and look forward to their return very soon.
