The Skills Centre in Torrevieja was the first college in the area to be accredited with the well reputed and recognised City and Guilds approval and since then, continues to be the first choice for people wishing to train for a new career in the hair and beauty industry, whether they be young men and women just leaving school or the more mature students wanting to learn new skills. So whatever your age or chosen course, at The Skills Centre you are assured of quality learning in both a classroom and professional working salon environment which will equip you for a successful future career.
With a 100% pass rate, over the years since its formation in 2004, hundreds of students have entered the doors of the college. There is a team of dedicated qualified staff who work hard to ensure that the courses and progression path chosen enable the students to achieve their aims and aspirations and they leave with the confidence and qualifications to walk in to some of the area’s top salons. Many have also gone on to set up their own business and are enjoying working their own hours and being their own boss.
Qualifications
Gaining a City and Guilds qualification is one of the best ways of ensuring your future in these difficult times. It is one of the largest international vocational awarding bodies and has gained recognition from governments, employers and professional bodies throughout the world as evidence of high quality vocational achievement. City and Guilds qualifications are designed to provide candidates with underpinning knowledge and the practical skills needed for the workplace. Each award has been designed by industry experts who have had many years training experience and who understand the employment market and the skills required by students in the workplace and as a result, The Skills Centre is proud and pleased to be able to offer a number of courses in co-ordinance with City and Guilds including:
- IVQ Diploma in Hairdressing
- IVQ Advanced Hairdressing
- Barbering
In addition, just last December they became an approved centre for ITEC, extending their range of accredited courses. Students in 38 countries around the world are training for an ITEC qualification and now at The Skills Centre you can join them on the Beauty Therapy ITEC Level 2 course, which is ideal for students just starting out in the industry. For students unsure of which path they want to follow ITEC offers Certificate (Level l) in hair and beauty, an excellent course for the younger person.
On certain beauty short courses where they offer their own certificate; the Skills Centre Diploma, they are also members of the Guild of Beauty Therapists. This means that any person who successfully completes the training can apply for full guild membership (which includes insurance cover for 2 million pounds of treatment, public and product liability cover.) Prospective students can visit their website www.beautyguild.com where The Skills Centre is listed, for more information.
