The New Year saw some remarkable results and one not so remarkable occurrence as the League resumed its regular fixtures. Monos/Decades trounced Moonfleet "A" 8-1 to go clear at the top of Division One, while a similar result for Drivers against highly placed Bells Bar cemented their position at the top of Division Three. Both victories were however bettered by the 9-0 defeat by Tavern over Dogs Bar in Division Two allowing them to go top on point difference only. Other notable wins were recorded by Border and Vue Bar Vets who both won 7-2 against Mirador and Hideaway respectively.
There are still numerous results outstanding, notably from Division Three, so the tables below are not complete and, despite the best efforts of the organizers, results are still not being sent in on time.
One point of contention arose when in one match a player turned up late and was refused permission to play at around ten past nine on the basis of Rule 5 of the main League Rules which state -
5. All fixtures are scheduled for Tuesday evenings. All league and knock out cup matches will start at 8:30pm sharp. Once matches have started, play will be continuous for the first 6 games. If after 9pm a player is not available to play his game, the opponents may claim the game.
This clearly states that the game may be claimed and not the match so one game would need to be forfeited and the remainder of the games played out. However, if a player had been named and was not available it would have been perfectly legitimate for a named substitute to take his place in the game. I trust this clears up any misunderstanding.
