ORBA WARBLERS GOLF SOCIETY WEDNESDAY AUGUST 8TH ALICANTE

This week the Warblers visited Alicante Golf and I am told that the course was in very good condition; the greens had been lightly sanded but were still deceptively quick.
Alicante has 6 par three holes all of which presented the opportunity to win a prize and the closest on the day were, John Daniels on hole 3, Pete Nicholson on the 6th, Bernard Culmer on the 8th and Keith Lockyer on hole 12, nobody hit the green on the 15th or 17th. Ron Steele and one of our guests, Mike Walter, managed two’s on the 6th.
The Captain David Knight, having had a short rejuvenating break, made an imposing return topping division one with 37 points off 8.8, in second place was Roger Vicars with 36 off 16.8 and showing signs of returning to his old form, in third place was Pete Nicholson with 34 off 18.2.
Division two did not quite match their lofty counter parts for a change this week and on top was Barbara Pollitt with 32 points off 20 , second place went to Dave Rogers with 31 points and in third Roy Booth with 30. There was one singles knock-out match played today and Keith Lockyer beat Sheila Dindar 4 and 2.
