FOOTWORK TAKE 15 GOLDS AT MAZARRON FESTIVAL DE BAILE

The Mazarron festival de Baile is organised by Louise Bremner of Murcia Dance, the aims of the festival are to raise the profile and quality of dance throughout the Costas, enrich peoples experience of dance through participation and appreciation, and, for dancers and teachers to share a platform for the day. The students had a fantastic weekend in Mazarron not only with the success of their dancing but also having the opportunity to meet students from 7 other schools, make new friends and take part in workshops experiencing different styles of dance.
For the second year running Footwork Dance performed extremely well at the festival, gaining 15 first places, 11 second places and 6 third places, in total bringing home to Los Montesinos approximately 160 medals, the school also won 9 trophies. For the second year running the adult tappers won the highest mark adult troup, Abbi Dorrill won the highest mark senior solo, Rhiane and Abbi Dorrill also won the highest mark senior duet trophy which this year this was shared with Rhiane Dorrill and Ayla Mae Coghlan for an outstanding tap performance.
Lauren Riley won the highest mark solo for the under 13's, the junior ballet group won the highest mark junior troup award, a lyrical routine performed by the seniors won the highest mark senior troup trophy, and Paige Wyatt, Lorna Bartlett and Jessica Payne won the highest mark senior group award, the school also gained a trophy for the Mixed group award.
All in all it was a fabulous weekend enjoyed by students an parents alike.
Footwork are performing their "Summer Revue" at the Theatre of Music and Culture in Los Montesinos on Friday 27th July, This is a lively and colourful family show, giving the students the opportunity to show you the audience the culmination of all their hardwork and dedication. If you missed our performance at the Los Montesinos El Mundo en La Plaza or at the Queens Jubilee in the Torrevieja, then don't miss this one! During the performance you will see group routines as well as solos, duets and trios, from acrobatics to jazz and from classical ballet to tap also to be performed "The British Finale".
The tickets are 7€ for adults and 5€ for children, and are available from Footwork Dance or call 662137329. The perfomance will commence at 7.30pm and proceeds from the show will be donated to Caritas Los Montesinos.
