The company who were originally awarded the contract to construct the new IES Playa Flamenca school, the construction firm Cyes, has issued a statement this week claiming that the company is not bankrupt and that they voluntarily left the project contract.
The statement has come about to contradict claims by the Orihuela councillor for education, Rosa Martínez, who had said that the delay in the work was due to the company filing for bankruptcy, which resulted in the tender having to be returned to Valencia to be resubmitted, which has caused the further delay in the building of the much needed educational facility.
The work is now in the hands of a new company, Ecisa, and Cyes would not offer any further details as to the reasons for them ending the contract, nor if there would be any legal action from either side.
