On Sunday, 26th February, the Fed 4´s played against the Emerald Isle Leprechauns at home and achieved an excellent result, winning on 2 rinks and narrowly losing on one. We gained 6 points to 2 and 66 shots to 50. Well done to Sheila Cox, Eileen Barton, Peter Cox, Alan Barton 27-13 and to Bobbie Vanner, Mike Cox, Ray Robson, Trevor Vanner 24-17.
On Monday morning, the Klingons were at home to Greenlands Maples – another excellent result – 11 points, 104 shots to 3 points, 89 shots. Congratulations to Margaret Morrison, Charlie Marigold, Peter Cox 15-14, Enid Chapman, Graham Bird, Bill Chapman 21-19, Kevin Bell, Cliff Harris, Val Sherry 22-7, Irene Everett, Sheila Cox, Peter McEneany 20-10 and to Pat Bird, Joe Johnson and Mike Cox, who drew on the last end, 18-18. The Trekkers were away to Emerald Isle Neptunes and found the new carpet very difficult, coming away with only 2 points. Well done to Keith Phillips, Bert Ewart and David Whitworth 20-15. The Vulcans, at home to Horadada Condors won 8 points, 119 shots to 6 points, 104 shots. Well done to the winning rinks, Jean Hepehi, Mavis and Tom Riley 22-10, Ann Badger, Marie Henly, Brian Badger 19-13 and a very good win for Margaret Roseveare, Graham Bromley, Brian Sherry 32-13.
On Wednesday morning, 3 of the quarter-finals of the Club Championships rinks took place and the rinks skipped by Phil Morrachan, Mal Hughes and Sue Cooper have gone through to the semi-finals. Earlier in the week, Margaret Morrison and Frank Gibbons went through to the semis of the Drawn 2 Wood Pairs, sponsored by Coy´s Rent a Car.
The Lions managed to get wet on Friday morning while playing away against Greenlands Elms, but came away with a very good win 12 points, 124 shots to 2 points, 94 shots. Congratulations to Pat Bird, Alan Barton, Mal Hughes 24-15, Bob White, Graham Bird, Phil Morrachan 23-10, Enid and Bill Chapman with Peter McEneany 24-19, Mel Highland, Mike Cox, Peter Cox 18-15 and Kevin Bell, Keith Roberts, Colin Highland 25-11. The Tigers also had a good win at home against Quesada Swallows, 10 points, 118 shots to 4 points, 86 shots. Well done Maureen Bromley, Bobbie Vanner, Terry Hubball 28-13, Ian Ross, Derrick Cooper, David Whitworth 18-11, Sadie Hubbard, Blossom Cox, Sonny Cavanagh 18-16 and the best win of the day, Audrey Ford, Bert Ewart, Colin Potter 29-9.
