An Air Europa Embraer jet, en route from Paris to Alicante, made an emergency landing at Madrid Barajas airport on Monday, due to a fault with the aircraft´s hydraulic system.
Although it is believed that the fault was a minor one and that the aircraft could have continued to its destination without incident, the decision to land at Madrid was made as the airport would have been able to provide a quicker repair than Alicante.
The plane landed at Barajas at 14:10 and was met by the emergency services, who were on alert for the landing, but the plane was able to continue to its destination just 40 minutes later.
