SAN LUIS BOWLS CLUB REPORT 2.12.11

Monday morning once again dawned dark and wet. The Klingons had to postpone their match early to avoid the Country bowlers setting off on a wild goose chase. This game will now be played on Sunday, 11th December in the morning. The Trekkers travelled to La Marina and played although the conditions were difficult. They lost 4 points, 91 shots to 10 points, 119 shots.
Congratulations to Audrey Ford, Bert Ewart and Dave Whitworth 24-12 and to Allen Bowen, Tony Davies and Trevor Vanner 18-12. The Pumas were able to play at home in the afternoon against the Lemon Tree Lincolns and had a very good win, 12 points, 112 shots to 2 points, 80 shots. Well done to Janet Gardner, Keith Blood, John Featherstone 17-13, Margaret Roseveare. Brian Sherry, Rod Wright 14-12, Jean Hepehi, Mavis and Tom Riley 20-18, Maxine Wright, Jacqui Campbell, Brian Badger 26-10 and to Tony Campbell, Alan Mawer, Joan Dullaway 25-7.
Tuesday afternoon, The Fed 4´s game was played against the Emerald Isle Leprechauns. Not a good result for the team, losing 2 points, 49 shots to 6 points, 59 shots but an excellent result for Allen Bowen, Mike Cox, Keith Roberts and Trevor Vanner who beat the very experienced team of Ron Cammack, June Jones, Steve Pearson and Keith Jones 19-11.
Wednesday afternoon, the Lions resumed their game against the Emerald Isle Cavaliers. Already 4 rinks up, they managed to keep up the good work, winning on 4 rinks and gaining the overall shots to win 10 points, 111 shots to 4 points, 90 shots.

The Men´s and Ladies´ Pairs continued this week with the following successes, Sadie Hubbard/Maxine Wright, Chris Phillips/Janet Wigfield, Ann Badger/Margaret Morrison, Mavis Riley/Kath Waywell, Maureen Bromley/Joan Dullaway, Joe Johnson/Alan Barton, Charlie Marigold/Colin Highland, Keith Roberts/Mal Hughes, Neil Morrison/Brian Badger, Tony Davies/Tom Riley, Brian Sherry/Terry Hubball, Peter McEneany/Keith Phillips, Ray Robson/Derek Armstrong, Mike Smith/Colin Potter and Frank Barclay/Sonny Cavanagh. On Friday, the Pumas were at home to the Lemon Tree Leopards and lost 4 points, 91 shots to 10 points, 103 shots. The Trekkers were away to San Miguel Cougars, winning 8 points, 112 shots to 6 points, 97 shots. The Lions, playing in the afternoon against their arch rivals, the Sharks, managed to play 16 ends before rain interrupted play again. They won 1, drew 1 and lost 4 rinks, giving them 3 points, 80 shots to 11 points, 92 shots.
The chicken was won on Sunday by Peter McEneany – 32 shots and the eggcup went to Charlie Marigold – 8 shots. On Tuesday, Cliff Harris won the chicken- 25 shots and Ray Robson took the eggcup with 6 shots
