The Montesinos team

CD Montesinos 1 - 1 Dolores ...CD Montesinos entertained the league leaders at the weekend, and although they were by far the better side through most of this game, they were unable to take all three points from a match which saw the biggest gate of the season at the Campo Municipal de Futbol in Los Montesinos.

‘Monte’ took the game to the visitors from the start, determined to put last week’s first defeat of the season behind them. Despite their superiority during the first half, Montesinos were unable to break down the Dolores defensive system which, at times, had up to 8 players in defence. Certainly the large crowd of 300 plus were kept well entertained as chances came and went, mainly for the home side.

With the scores level at 0-0 at half time, the ‘Monte’ manager, Juanpe, decided to throw on more forwards as Dimitry came on for a defender. However, within a minute, Montesinos found themselves behind as a Dolores breakaway caught them napping and they took the lead. From this moment it was all ‘Monte’ as Juanpe put on two more forwards which resulted in Montesinos playing no less than seven forwards at the same time. Despite hitting the bar, and having a few chances cleared at the last minute, Dolores was always looking for the breakaway which would kill off the game.

Just when it looked as if the visitors would hold on for the points, Monte were awarded yet another free kick on the edge of the box as their Brazilian forward, Vazquihno, was brought down time after time. On this occasion the club Captain, Sanchez, buried his free kick into the back of the net thanks to a wicked deflection off a Dolores defender. This brought the scores level and kept CD Montesinos in third place in the table, just two points behind the new leaders, Sporting Saladar.

Before the game, the CD Montesinos players were given their new club fleeces, which have been paid for by Internacional (CB) Football Supporters’ Club, ‘The Full Monte’. CD Montesinos Club President, Pilar, was very grateful to the supporters club not only for the fleeces but also for the unconditional support that The Full Monte are giving to the club.

Sunday 4th December, CD Montesinos have an "AWAY" fixture against Todo Deporte. As Todo Deporte also plays at the Campo Municipal in Los Montesinos, this is an away fixture in name only. Kick off has been confirmed as 3.30pm.
