Voting closed on Wednesday for the nominated companies to be crowned “Worst Company of the Year) with the consumer association FACUA.
Votes will now be counted before the consumers choice for worst company of the year is announced for World Consumer Rights day, which is 15th March.
This year, the top five companies who were shortlisted, based on complaints made by members of the public and based around poor levels of service, advertising or other quality standards are Bankinter, Movistar, Power Balance, Ryanair and Vodafone.
Movistar already held the title, but is expected to be pipped for the award this year after a huge increase in complaints against Vodafone. Vodafone, along with Ryanair are previous shortlisted nominees, whereas Bankinter and Power Balance are new entries into the world of providing poor quality service.
Voting opened on the 18th January with the association, which sets out to represent the consumer and ensure a fair level of service provision. FACUA can be approached by any consumer who feels that they have been let down, mistreated or even conned and the body will advise or act accordingly.
