BODIES LOCATED FLOATING OFF JAVEA

Last Wednesday Guardia Civil officers were investigating whether two bodies found floating 20 miles from Jávea beach in Valencia were part of a larger group of migrants who had tried to reach Spain in a rickety boat earlier this month.
Maritime authorities were alerted to a body floating near Ibiza early Wednesday morning by a boat in the vicinity. On approaching the area, the rescue team found the second body floating nearby.
The gender of the victims could not immediately be determined; one of the bodies was badly decomposed, investigators said. Civil Guard officials were trying to determine if the victims had been part of a group of migrants intercepted near Benidorm on July 14.
The 11 passengers were taken to Alicante.
