Two beach masseurs were arrested for biting a police officer and assaulting another in Dehesa de Campoamor on Monday after they had been asked to show their permits. The patrol told the pair that, unless they could produce the appropriate municipal permits, they could not continue their work.
One masseur, aged 37, a Chinese national, attacked and bit the two local police officers after they prevented her from seeking clients on the beach. Police said the incident occurred on Friday about 1520 hours on the beach Glea in Dehesa de Campoamor, when two agents who were monitoring beaches by bike spotted the women offering their services.
The police asked to see their licenses which they could not `produce. They were invited to leave, at which point one of the individuals became "pretty upset."
According to police, she pounced on one of the agents, who lost his balance and fell to the ground. She then gave him several kicks and slaps without causing injuries, while the other bit the second officer on the arm when he went to his colleague’s assistance.
Both were arrested and taken to Orihuela.
