TORREVIEJA PLAYERS STAR IN BENIDORM OPEN

Last week we saw the Benidorm open competition take place at The Palm Beach Hotel. It was great to see a large number of players from the UK in addition to some of our Torrevieja players participating in this International Competition. Two of our local players Keith Lowman and Darren Sanderson played well getting through to the men’s finals.
The semi final was the best of seven legs and with both of them playing well they took the semi final 4 legs to 3, we all then had a long wait for the final to be played and Keith and Barney started in fine form although they were throwing second after 4 legs played it was two each, the fifth leg went with the darts and they were then 3 - 2 down, in the sixth leg although they both threw good darts and were sitting on a double the opponents pulled something out of the bag and took the leg meaning unfortunately they lost 4 - 2.
Well done to both of them, and it was nice to see they had some support from other Torrevieja players who had made the journey again to cheer them on, they got runners up and won 500 Euros but I am sure they will be back next year to take the top spot.
