ALONE LEAVE IT LATE
Steve Hibberd / 2009-11-29 19:30:22
On an evil wet Sunday evening, CD Alone secured a much needed 3 points, courtesy of an injury time penalty. Against an in form Albatera, Guardamar started positively, scoring after only 6 mins through Alberto. Albatera came back strongly, and only a great acrobatic save by keeper Sergio, prevented them from equalising.
On 20 mins, they went 2-0 up, this time it was Yaco (fresh from suspension) who latched on to a peach of an assist by David, to coolly place a firm shot past a helpless keeper. Once again, Albatera pressed hard for an equaliser, only being denied by the brilliance of the recalled goalie Sergio.
Deja vu or what? Slack defending allowed Albatera to claw a headed goal back on the hour mark. Despite a firm rearguard by Alone, it looked curtains on 83 mins when Albatera put the ball in the net for the 2nd time, but thankfully the linesmans offside flag came to the rescue. Unfortunately, worse was to follow, for on the stroke of full time, the match referee awarded an extremely harsh penalty for handball to the hosts, which they easily converted.
Into stoppage time, sub Purito (remember him?) took a tumble in the penalty area, sufficiently convincing to ref to award another penalty, only this time it was in Alone's favour. Up stepped Purito to convert the spot kick, before being suitably mobbed by his delirious team mates. How the referee found almost 9 mins of stoppage time only he will know, but in what seemed like and eternity, he eventually signalled full time, much to the relief of all connected with CD Alone de Guardamar.
Alone's next match is at home on Sunday 13 December, ko 5pm, against Thader.
Albatera - 2 Alone De Guardamar - 3
