Elche were twice ahead in this exciting match, leading scorer Jorge Molina again on target after twenty-nine minutes, but Ruben equalised for the home side nine minutes later, 1 – 1 at half time.

Only three minutes had gone in the second half and Super Santos put the Illicitanos back into the lead, which stayed the score until sixty-three minutes when Bahamontes scored to make it all square and share the points.

This valuable point ensured Elche go fourth, so what with Cartagena and Hercules first and second, this area is well served with promotion excitement with only a third of the season gone ! Next week Elche are home to lowly Cadiz, kick off at six pm on Saturday evening at the Martinez Valero– see you there ?
