SABA Monday League. The Klingons suffered at the hands of San Miguel Meteors losing 6 points to 8 with shots helping out 112 - 109 we won two of the trips. Sonny Cavanagh, Jim Wilson, Val Sherry 21 - 12 Carol Lowry, Kevin Bell, John Haigh. 35 - 6 that vast shot difference gave us the two points.
The Vulcans were down the road at La Siesta playing the Pioneers who produced the goods beating us 8 - 6 with shots 91 for and 109 against; the three winning teams were Marie Henly, John Thom, and Ivor Everett 21 - 15. Keith Blood, Walter Oakes, George Gandy. 16 - 12. Irene Everett, Peter Camp, John Featherstone. 22 - 13.
Friday CBBA League. The Lions had San Miguel Cougars for breakfast beating them 10 - 4 with shots for 113 - 97 an excellent atmosphere prevailed throughout the morning with the result putting the cherry on the cake. Pat Bird, Vic Slater, John Haigh. 23 - 16 Mel Highland, Charlie Marigold, Val Sherry. 28 - 17 Shiela Cox, Jim Wilson, Phil Morrachan. 17 - 14. Bob White, Brian Sherry, Peter McEneany. 25 - 13. Not forgetting the friendly of Mike Smith, Mick Cox, and Ian Young. 23 - 11.
Not such a good day at the office for the Pumas who were away to La Marina Dolphins losing out 10 -4 with shots for 80 and against 121. the two winning trips were Pat Malden, Bert Ewart, John Malden 20 - 16 Hugh Moffat, Neil Morrison, John Morris 19 - 10 .
The Tigers played there match in the afternoon against La Siesta Gold losing out 9 - 5 with shots for 90, against 102. The winning trips June Whitworth, Dane Howard (he found his way there), David Whitworth 20 - 11. Barbara Cooper, Roy Herman, Jim McMillan 16 - 15 the drawn match Carol Lowry, Shirley Withers, Ray Robson 14 - 14. Not forgetting the friendly of Audrey Ford, Sue Ross & Derrick Cooper 26 - 11.
Drawn Trips. Pat Bird, Frank Barclay & Jim Wilson hold pole position with 10 points, closely followed by Val Sherry, Shiela Cox & Ged Henly on 8 with 3rd spot going to Walter Oakes, Marie Henly & John Featherstone on 7. Half a dozen other teams are closely grouped waiting to pounce.
The Xmas Hamper League produced a new leader that of David Whitworth, Bob Herman & Wally Oakes who have won their first two games earning them 4 points. The top group are all very close so it is very much open season.
Of course the week would not be complete without the Chicken and Egg Cup, on Sunday we had 3 winners Charlie, Tony and Roger all on 26 points with the play off being won by Tony Davies and the egg cup being awarded to Bernard with 6 points. Tuesday we had another fight for the bird with Keith Blood, Barry B and Fred Trott all tying with 24 points with Fred living up to his name by trotting out the final winner. Not to be outdone the egg cup was fought over by Sylvia, Colin Potter and Derrick Cooper with Derrick collecting the spoils.
Audrey's Saturday night bash was enjoyed by all who attended with comments like let’s do it again, the proof of the pudding was in the eating well done Audrey.
John Haigh has asked me to remind all members that on Thursday prior to the start of the Xmas Hamper League at approx 9.30 a.m. if possible the Federation Meeting will commence with enrollment taking place, it is important please try and attend... Finally it was good to see Sophie with June Hitchcock both these ladies being (h)armless, sorry I couldn't resist the pun, the pair of them with their arms in slings dishing out orders to poor Frank who still has to make the tea.
