SABA LEAGUE
Quesada Pearls were away to Greenland Greens - what a day and what a struggle today was!! Again some of the Swallows couldn’t sustain their effort through to the last end - but no need to be ashamed. 3 of our rinks won, 1 drew and 2 lost, but the aggregate points went to Quesada, giving them a draw. Quesada can be very pleased with this result. N. Birch, N. Baigent, N. Lamberton 13 - 16; J. Muldoon, P. Chapman, T. Brinton 16 - 18; J. Northen, P. Parks, R. Birch 16-11; D. Sale, V. Sale, M. Lamberton 14-16; J. Brinton, R. Pinfold, B. Houghton 16 - 12; The Friendly team consisted of D. Leeming, J. Ester, G. Carnel and R. Ford and won 18-15. 95 shots for Quesada against 93 shots for Greenland. 7 points for both teams.
Quesada Diamonds were at home to La Marina Astronauts. The Swifts did their best on this gorgeous morning. However La Marina proved to be the better side and won on 5 rinks against 2 rinks for Quesada. A big cheer to M. Bowness, S. Elton and I have forgotten the third person’s name,(sorry) who have been the most outstanding team so far. Quesada amassed 110 shots against 114 shots for La Marina. 4 points to the Swifts and 10 points to the Astronauts.
WINTER LEAGUE
Which was played away at the Javea green. Well, not a lot to report following our visit to league leaders Javea save to say we finished a consistent second on all 4 rinks. I think it is fair to say that by midway point none of the teams were in a position to think they had a chance of winning as the final shot score of 89 -43 illustrates. Still roll on next week!! Due to the shortage of players this week we were only able to field 1 Berleen team, but skip C. Chapman with R. Ford, H. Simkiss & A. Blay put in a very solid performance & only allowed their opponents to score on 6 ends to run out 16-11 winners - thus take the 2 points. The morning was rounded off with an excellent meal and we won at least one raffle prize.
SOUTHERN LEAGUE
Quesada Swallows at home to La Siesta Blues. A lovely mornings bowling was had by all. The Swallows won on 4 rinks, but the other 2 rinks had substantial losses thus giving the aggregate points to La Siesta, which was unfortunate.
103 shots against 105 shots, which gave the Swallows 8 points and La Siesta 6 points. Well done to everyone.
Quesada Swifts played at home in the afternoon to La Manga Crusaders. An excellent game was played by the Swifts against the Crusaders. The skips on the 5 winning rinks were - Terry Jakeman, George Williams, Stan Elton and Tony Paget. The end result was 12 points to Quesada and 2 points to La Manga. Well played everyone.
