Murcia will have the high speed rail link by 2014 but the Cartagnea will have to wait a little longer for a confirmed date as to when they will be connected via the AVE train said ADIF rail infrastructure company this week adding it was guaranteed that the AVE high speed train will reach Murcia in 2014.
Antonio González Marín, the President of ADIF, also added on a visit to Alicante and Murcia last Thursday that the train will arrive in Alicante in 2012 saying that it was not an empty promise but a reality although the tender for the line is yet to be issued. The work to build the urban sections in Murcia and Cartagena will be put out to tender very shortly and the sections for Totana and Librilla will be put out in the first half of next year. The Monforte section will become a hub for the high speed service where trains from Alicante and Murcia will head to Madrid.
