AZNAR RECEIVES HONORARY DEGREE IN MURCIA

The former prime minister of Spain, José María Aznar, was guest of honour at the opening ceremony of the academic year at the Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM) yesterday (Monday).
As President of the FAES Foundation, Aznar gave the inaugural lecture entitled 'The values in contemporary political life' after which he was appointed to the post of extraordinary professor.
The event, which was chaired by the Chief Executive of Murcia, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, began with a solemn mass which was led by Cardinal Antonio Canizares,. He was assisted by UCAM president, José Luis Mendoza, the rector of the institution, Josefina García Lozano, and numerous academic authorities, civil and religious
The Chair in Ethics, Politics and Humanities, created by UCAM in collaboration with the FAES Foundation, will bring many other top-level speakers to the University such as Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy, Rocco Buttiglione, the former ministers Jaime Mayor Oreja, Angel Acebes and Eduardo Zaplana, the president of the Region of Murcia, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, or Professor of the University of Bologna and consultant to Pope Benedict XVI, Stefano Zamagni, among others.
