TORRY FIRE BLANKS

I lost count of the number of chances missed by Torry in a game they should have won by a large margin but instead they had to settle for a point against a side that were reduced to 10 men in the first minute of the second half.
Without Heredia & Arrazola both suspended & Carrasco, injured the Torry defence took on a different shape and early on it was noticeable that players were finding it difficult, especially Gustavo who could not get to grips with Obele, and Jorge who continues to panics at the back when under pressure, but the hosts started of brightly enough and almost took the lead within the first minute when Lotfi’s header hit the top of the cross bar.
But it was Elche who went in front in the 13th minute after a run by Lopez on the right wing found Hector in what looked to be in an offside position. Torry then had to wait until the 31st minute for the equalizer as Ramiro floated a superb ball to the unmarked Aitor who made no mistake from close range. Torry by now were at full charge and creating chances but they just could not get that touch to put the ball into the net.
In the first minute of the second half Torry were awarded a penalty when Ramiro was bought down by Vincente who was sent off, Ramiro converted the penalty, but within 3 minutes Elche had equalized when some good work on the right by winger Lopez found Hector who made no mistake from just outside the box.
Ramiro was probably the most inventive player on the park as he battled his way down the left creating openings. One such opportunity fell to Lotfi who missed an open goal from five yards out in the 53rd minute. Then Ramiro himself became the second player to miss an open goal when Piquero crossed from the right. Instead of placing the ball in the net he hammered it over the bar.
Torry have now gone six games without defeat but it’s becoming all to common for them not to take advantage of the opportunities that come there way and until they become more adapt of seizing the moments of opportunity they will continue to struggle in the second half of the table it was unfortunate that the essential Torry players were not available but this is one game they should have especially with the opposition being reduced to 10 men.
Next week Torry are away to Gandia for a 5pm kick-off on Sunday 8th November.
