A building company from Alicante, TM Grupo Inmobiliario, have turned their hand to agriculture to try and overcome the financial crisis.
From their headquarters in Torrevieja they have decided to cultivate the 70 hectares they possess, which had originally been planned as an urbanisation in Almoradi and Los Montesinos. Their main produce will now be broccoli, which they plan to export to the UK. They plan to sow 3,780,000 broccoli seeds, hoping to produce 1.5 million kilos of the vegetable. The crop should be ready to harvest by mid March 2010. They hope to make 730,000 euros from this new venture, and have already planned the following crop, which will be water melon, for the Spring/Summer of 2010.
TM Grupo Inmobiliario have been building and selling houses since 1969. They also offer buyers the option of financial help, adapted to each client. The fact that they have agents all over the world has held them in good steed to meet the crisis head on. They have recently built 100 houses in Angola, Africa. And before this built a residential complex in the Riviera Maya in Mexico, and another in Brazil.
