I bought my house in Spain 5 years ago and moved here 18 months ago after retiring from work. 

I sold my flat in London but still have a mortgage here.  Earlier this year I had to change my mortgage to 'interest only' because my pension has, effectively, been reduced by one third.
 
However, I would NEVER go back to live in the UK.  Here, I have my house with a garden, my dog, friends and gorgeous weather.  I am learning Spanish and have a lovely way of life.  There is no spare money for luxuries, but I dont care.  What would I go back to - renting a small flat with no garden, horrible weather, crime, not much of a social life, discontentment among the majority of the population.  I dont think so.
