The national directorate of the Partido Popular has fully supported the move by its Valencian branch to block the nomination of Alicante Socialist MP Leire Pajin as a candidate for the Senate in representation of the Valencian Parliament.
There are apparently two main reasons for this: one is the treatment being handed out by the Valencian Socialists to the local branch of the PP over the Gürtel case, and the year and a half that the Valencian Socialists have refused to support the naming of Jose Cholbi as Syndic de Greuges, withy both these reasons being supported nationally.
In addition, a letter from Javier Rojo, the Socialist Speaker of the Senate to Milagrosa Martinez, the Speaker of the Valencian Parliament demanding that Mrs Martinez speed up the naming of Miss Pajin has been rejected as it fails to take into consideration the PP majority in the Valencian Parliament.
