Francisco Camps, the president of the Valencian Generalitat, was in Torreviaja last Tuesday, to officially open the San Luis-La Siesta Health Centre and the new PROP office.
The ceremony was well attended, and Camps was accompanied by Torrevieja Mayor Pedro Angel Hernandez Mateo, Health Councillor Manuel Cervera, Jose Joaquin Ripoll, and Paula Sanchez. Camps commented on the fact that Torrevieja had grown population wise at a tremendous pace, and that the Government’s objective is to achieve a model of excellence and well being for the five million citizens who now reside in the whole Comunitat.
The new health centre, which has cost over 3 million euros, will attend a population of 13,000 residents. Camps, wearing one of his finest suits, also said that 40% of Valencia’s budget will be spent on healthcare this year. New technology and equipment in hospitals and clinics will bring the area to the forefront of healthcare. The new clinic will offer a surgery, for minor operations, a web-cam for appointments with specialists such as dermatologists, optometry equipment, and other top of the range equipment. The centre will also be able to offer urology scans. Its location is ideal.
