THE SUNDAY Drivers Club change of venue to outside St. James’s Gate in Toretta, Torrevieja proved to be a great success on Sunday, with more than 40 cars and bikes on display. St. James’s Gate offered the incentive of free T-Shirts for the first 20-cars plus baguettes for drivers and their guests and this little incentive went a long way to attract a good mix of cars not to mention an estimated three hundred or more visitors who thoroughly enjoyed the sunny Sunday afternoon, 27C degree weather and the fine exhibition.
The main draw was probably the ever-growing American Muscle Car scene, with such marques as Mustang, Camaro, Firebird, a General Lee, Corvette and Chevy, from 1965 to the present day on display. Add in MG, Mercedes, a 1923 Citroen, Harley Davidson, Triumph, Panther, Porsche, BMW, Volkswagen, Fiat, Seat, Mini making this first show a great success at the new venue, and something to grow on for future events through the winter.
This Sunday some of the cars will no doubt be on display at the Ace Garage meeting in Los Montesinos outside the La Torre Hotel from 1100 to 1300-hrs. For more information on the classic and custom car scene on the Southern Costa Blanca please visit www.MostOnTheCoast.com, their Facebook page at Most On The Coast, or drop an email to nickinspain@mac.com. The next Sunday Drivers Club meeting will return to St. James’s Gate on November 27 with Noche del Coche being the Friday before at the Lakeside Commercial Centre in Torrevieja, in front of the Christmas Shop and Di Vinci’s Bistro on November 25 from 1900-hrs.
