The Emerald Isle A team rises to the top in the Kings Cup with its win against San Miguel A 7-4. It was a tough match and Captain Jim Mulloy reports that they really had to fight back to clinch the match. This followed a draw the previous week against Emerald Isle B.
The B team lost out 9-3 to San Miguel B.
The Midsummer Madness fun day was a great success with winners Ted Eldred, Renata Huggins and Shirley McDoollon picking up the prizes at the BBQ at La Campana in the evening.
There have been two friendly matches both against Greenlands. The home match was won by the Emerald Isle and they just managed to squeeze a win away - with three rinks apiece and one shot difference 101 to 100.
Our condolences to former captain Roy Cordell and his wife Sally. They have returned to the UK for a short time following the death of Roy´s mother. She had come out to Spain with them and was a familiar jovial figure at their home until she sustained a fall last year from which she never fully recovered. Our thoughts are with you both.
This weekend sees the three day Rendezvous Open Triples - which promises to be a very competitive event. This event has been sponsored by the owners of the Rendezvous restaurant in Pueblo Principe. The club will be holding as social night out there on July 16.
