Age Concern Charity Shop

On the 25th April 2005 Age Concern opened its new Charity Shop in Torrevieja. After seven years in a very dilapidated building, it has now moved to C/Patricio Zammit on the corner with C/Concordia, just one street back from Torrevieja's bus station. The premises are large, light and airy, and we are sure that volunteers and customers alike will enjoy visiting them. The Shop was officially opened by Councillor Lola Canares of Torrevieja Town Hall, accompanied by Graham Knight, and we are most grateful to them for honouring us with their presence on this very special day.
The Charity Shop is there to make funds for Age Concern Costa Blanca Sur and it is the hard work of Wilma Aitkenhead and the Shop volunteers, and the loyal support of donors and customers, that have made it such a success over the years. However, the funds raised are never enough for the association's needs and we are always grateful for donations received from local clubs and individuals which enable us to ensure that our work of helping older people can carry on.
The opening of the new Shop has not been easy - there are no concessions to charity shops in Spain and we are treated by the authorities like any other business - and so we have had to apply for licences, commission a technical project, register change of use of the premises, inform Hacienda etc., etc., but it was all worth it in the end when we saw how many of our loyal customers, along with new customers, came along on the opening day to wish us well.
The Charity Shop is open Mondays to Fridays from 10 am to 1.30 pm and we extend an invitation to you all to visit. Thank you all for your support.
Yours sincerely,
Angela Keay
President
Age Concern Costa Blanca Sur
