A Guardia Civil operation, codenamed 'Micro', against a gang of Rumanian credit card forgers in Torrevieja has led to the capture of one of Rumania's most wanted criminals.
Raduu Alexander Boldiju, aged 27 and known as 'Robocop' is wanted in both Spain and Rumania and is believed to have been the mastermind behind more than ninety robberies in Alicante and Murcia provinces.
Nineteen other people were arrested and electronic forging equipment, documents and around 100 false credit cards were seized.
The gang are believed to have produced around 500 fake credit cards and to have stolen several luxury cars.
The suspects all lived in the same building in Torrevieja. They used mini cameras and card readers to copy data from credit cards used in cash point machines, then cloned the cards and used them to withdraw all the money in their victims' accounts.
Whilst the arrests were being under taken, it was discovered that 'Robocop' was in the Vega Baja region and officers quickly moved in to arrest him.
