SPORTING ALFAS 1ST X1 V BEEHIVE MATCH CANCELLED
Contributor / 2012-05-09 19:23:30
Saturday´s game, against a very strong Beehive CC X1 ended with a rain storm, but only after SACC batsmen had made 284 runs off the allotted 40 over´s, Pennick and Muñoz opened and took runs against a sharpe Andrews and a precise Day, both on another occasion might have gained wickets, today though was all about batting.
Muñoz went first after a bowling change. Lapmen, first change bowling from the pavilion end, having him caught right in front of the bar by Warren, 15 mm higher and it would have been 6 more to add to the 43 already scored by Muñoz. 88 for 1 off 13 over´s. Crompton and Pennick carried on adding runs at a steady 6 an over until Pennick holed out to Warren giving the bowler an easy return catch, 167 for 2 from 25 over´s. Fletcher, as lethargic as ever, strode out and helped Crompton reach 62, before Crompton gave up his wicket, caught by Spong of the now dangerous bowling of Warren who´s 4 over's 2 wickets 50 runs had him looking like top bowler.
205 for 3 from 29 over´s.
Fletcher retired on 56 after having a bad attack of needing another Mahou, so the last 9 over's gained SACC 50 runs for the loss off Pakiem who got an LBW for 4, Morgan and Brown finished the innings unbeaten on 17 and 6. 284 for 4, a good day for SACC batsmen.
The rain had now started but as ever at The Woodbridge Oval the home team took to the field, Fell and Ashraf opened. Fell removed Taylor on 13, caught by Pakiem, 21 for 1 off 5 over´s. Waqar Ashraf also nipped one out, skipper Spong falling LBW, 48 for 2 from 8 wet over´s. 2 more over's was all the now dripping umpires would take and the game finished with 60 runs for Beehive off 10 difficult SACC over´s.
Next week league action starts with Madrid United the first visitors to Albir. Game starts at 1pm. SACC are going to defend the Champion title with
games every Weekend from now until September, come down if you can and enjoy a very special day in good company, refreshments are always available.
