DAYA IN A ONE-SIDED LOCAL DERBY
Kevin Reardon / 2012-01-22 17:01:30
DAYA NUEVA 0 v. SPORTING SAN FULGENCIO 5
INFANTILS G9s
Fulgencio started very strongly and had Daya pinned in their own half early on. On 8 minutes this pressure took its toll on the home side and the visitors opened the scoring.
Just 2 minutes later it was 2 - 0 as Danni's good save came out to a Fulgencio forward for a simple tap in. It was 3 - 0 on 11 minutes and the visitors were threatening to run up a big big score. More pressure followed but somehow Daya kept their goal intact and even mounted a couple of attacks of their own.
So half-time came with the score remaining at 3 - 0 to San Fulgencio. The visitors were soon into their stride as the second-half got underway and on 40 minutes they increased their lead to 4 - 0.
A good chancde fell to the home side on 43 minutes but Aure's shot went agonisingly wide. On the hour it was 5 - 0 following good build up play by San Fulgencio.
At final whistle the score remained the same. Although San Fulgencio had the lion's share of the play the Daya defence played quite well, refusing to let their opponents over-run them. Danni had a good game in the Daya goal and Jesus had his best game to date for the home side.
San Fulgencio are a class side and play exciting football and were worthy winners with what was a sporting contest. Not such a large crowd this week to watch what was a local derby. Those that did attend though, saw an exciting game.
