LA SERENA GOLF RESORT – 14th October 2011
It was now the turn of the Champions Division complete with a newly elected Golf Society UNiKE who a based at Las Colinas Golf and Country Club.
The other change was that the format was now modified fourball better ball Matchplay, which allows teams to play and win on all 18 holes. A hole win gives the pairing a point and a half, yes gives a half point so that a match can be won 10.5 to 7.5.
The four matches can receive 3 team points for a win so there are a maximum of 12 points and the Society with the most hole wins gain three bonus points.
All the teams were very much in favour of the new format saying that it made the play more aggressive and competitive.
UNiKE put in a really good performance holding a strong Mar Menor team to a draw, a team which contained a player who was part of the winning team at the ProAm of the PGA EuroPro Tour the week previous.
Last year’s bottom side came good being the s highest points scorers, and go to the best part of the table
TOFFS narrowly had the better of La Manga RGA (RGA standing for Residents Golf Association)
