Last Saturday September 3rd Footwork Dance Academy in Los Montesinos proudly opened their new dance studios. This family run academy boasts of two studios with professionally sprung dance floors, fully air conditioned and wall to floor mirrors leaped into life.
It took John Dorrill, husband of Erica (dance teacher) three months hard work and at a cost of approximately 10,000 euros to complete. When John is not doing his joinery work he takes on the role of stage manager and is responsible for all the lighting and music for their shows.
People arriving at the open day were met by Carole (Mum of Erica) who normally occupies her time in the small shop area selling dance accessories she is also responsible for needs of the small children (not a job to be taken lightly).
All visitors received a champagne cocktail and it was remarkable how many people attended ranging from four years of age to late seventies who were then able to watch a choice of dance routines.
Apart from the normal Tap, jazz, ballet and acro they have included new dance classes for dynamic Street dancing and energetic Zumba
By the end of the day over forty people had decided to take the plunge and join up for lessons with Erica Dorrill who is a highly qualified teacher.
Erica had been teaching for a number of years in England before moving to Spain and has been responsible for the teaching of many dancers who have decided to make dancing a career, but here the dancing is mostly for fun and exercise.
The whole day was a complete success. Well done to Erica, Carole and John.
