Those of you who know Dean Sutherland and Mike Moores will know just what a splendid job they have done in the three years that they have owned Elvira’s Bar and Restaurant in Avda Abanto, San Luis. From a fairly average Spanish tapas Bar they have turned it into one of the area’s finest eateries where clientele are assured of good wholesome food provided at exceptional value for money.
With set menu’s de la noche offering three courses for either €9.50 or €12.50 you can choose from classic starter dishes such as seafood cocktail, pate’ or soup of the day followed by a variety of hearty home cooked favourites. Cod and chips is a particular favourite although steak pie and chicken curry are now beginning to run it mightily close. All are served with a separate side order of vegetables giving providing an elegant evening dining experience in a spacious and classy dining area.
Alternatively, for just a few euros more, why not try the extensive a la carte menu which offers a wide variety upmarket dishes which suit the well-groomed restaurant perfectly. All are home cooked to the same mouth watering standards, an absolute must for anybody who enjoys inspirational and enjoyable food. And if you still have room at the end of all that there is still at least one more choice to make, that of a choice of appealing desserts.
Dean and Mike have now been running the popular bar and restaurant for almost three years in which time they have tuned the business on its head. Following a lengthy closure this fashionable meeting spot is now so popular that booking is almost certainly recommended, and not only at weekends when it turns into one of the liveliest venues in the region.
In a previous life that saw him working as a chef in a top Holiday Inn hotel Dean is the culinary talent in the concern while Mike looks after the front of house. While Dean ensures that the kitchen runs like clockwork and the food is prepared to his own first class standards Mike will ensure that your supply of drinks keeps pace with the yardstick being set by his partner. In all the pair will ensure that you are not disappointed, that you leave in the knowledge that you have had value for money having experienced a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Dean and Mike are also extremely selective with any entertainment that they provide in the restaurant. “We will only feature acts that we would personally recommend” Dean said. “We don’t provide entertainment just for the sake of it. Just like the food we serve in the restaurant we want our customers to leave feeling they have enjoyed their evening with us”.
One upcoming performer who is not to be missed will be appearing at Elvira’s on Wednesday 17 February. Dougie Munro has been wowing audiences all over the Costa Blanca for many years. “We never tire of watching him perform” said Mike. “He always gives a first class show”.
If you want to see Dougie on the 17th at Elvira’s booking is certainly advised. The restaurant is closed all day Monday, except for private functions. From Tuesday to Saturday it opens at 6.30pm. In fact on Saturday evening why not experience the Saturday night carvery for just €10.95. And then on Sundays, for just €9.50, their extremely popular traditional Sunday lunch is served from 12.30 to 4.30pm. Bookings are always advised at Elvira’s on 661 141 493 or after 5.30pm on 968 97 4042
