“WE´RE FOR LIFE AFTER STROKE”

The Stroke Association UK is re-launched itself on 1st May with a month of stroke awareness across the UK and in the media to raise the profile of Stroke and it´s challenges. Here in Torrevieja the Stroke Support Group adhere to this aspiration.
Tea shirts with the new logo are to be offered to members. They have already undertaken “Steps for Stroke”, sponsored walk when over 2,000 Euros was raised on Easter Monday. Leaflets were distributed in English and Spanish with information about the necessity for speedy action if stroke is suspected as well as the therapeutic activities offered by TSSG. The Support Group thanks all who sponsored “Steps for Stroke”, which it is hoped will become a yearly event. Other “awareness” events are planned.
Torrevieja Stroke Support Group is soon to re-establish it´s website with improved information. In addition to more volunteers and the dedicated committee they now have a Spanish Occupational Therapist with the obvious benefits of knowledge of the Spanish “system”, language and professional expertise. Other therapists include a Speech and Language therapist, Physiotherapist and Personal Trainer, and Art therapist etc., all demonstrating and encouraging “Life after Stroke”.
