JORGE PARDO AND 'HUELLAS' COMES TO MOJACAR

International artist, Jorge Pardo is one of Spain's musicians with most projection outside our borders.

The new musical project of Spanish flautist and saxophonist Jorge Pardo, will be officially presented in Mojácar at the Centro de Usos Múltiples on Friday 18th May at 10pm.

The album is a work of 18 unique compositions that have involved a lot of musicians for the recording of the album, both from the jazz and flamenco scene and has resulted in one of the most complete and representative pieces of work for the forthcoming decades created by this prolific and unique artist.

The innovating 'Huellas' production was presented as a double recording in January 2012 and will be placed on stage on the 18th May in Mojacar, in collaboration with the Town Hall and the Cultural Council. The group will focus on a selection of melodic instruments, Jorge Pardo, saxophones and flutes, adding trumpet, with flamenco Spanish guitar, percussion/drums, bass and marimba. Up to eight musicians will be on stage with an extensive and varied show, with Jorge's direction and composition that results in a wonderful musical experience.

His skill and musical wisdom fuse different musical styles like flamenco and jazz, and have led him to perform on some of the most important stages next to highly requested musicians from the current music scene. Chick Corea, Jean Luc Vallet, Camaron de la Isla o Paco de Lucia among many others, are some of the geniuses who have applied the expertise and skill of this great musician. Jorge Pardo annually offers more than 150 concerts all over the world.

He has more than 20 records released and endless collaborations and has worked leading and nurturing with his music lots of formations and projects. 'Huellas' wants to become a mature and contemporary retrospective from his music and career so far, introducing a new wave of Iberian Jazz together with experienced and recognised figures. In this new project Pardo is accompanied by more than 50 different musicians, some very well-known musicians and some of them that are yet to be known. The extensive experience of Jorge in theatres, clubs and festivals worldwide, as an artist of an exotic musical style in his own language, being a spectator of his own intuition, made him share experiences with a diverse selection of musicians, great admirers of his music, Iberian Jazz.

The Spanish Jazz history has already wrote some chapters, putting Jorge next to various contemporary musicians, like his brother Jesus, Pedro Ruy Blas and Charles Benavent (among others) have all written some of the most important chapters. As of any development, it is difficult to specify its exact origins, but certainly the 60's and 70's were influential and the musical situation in Spain's capital and its characteristic evolution up until today has led to a new art and improvisation musical side; today it is recognised worldwide. The exotic Iberian Jazz is a music that develops through a variety of sources, Spanish classical music, Afro American music (Jazz/Blues), Flamenco, Arabic influences and much more.

Jorge Pardo got involved with music at a very young age very young and immediately was attracted to the world of wind instruments. His references are many artists and different styles. He started to play professionally in the clubs of Madrid, around the 70's. Diego Carrasco, Jean Luc Vallet, Manuel Soler, Peer Wyboris, David Thomas, Ricardo Miralles, Pedro Iturralde, Vlady Bas, among others are references and masters of his environment.

Las Grecas, from the hand of Jhonny Galvao, is his first professional recording. Dolores is grouped around Pedro Ruy Blas with several musicians of the Madrid scene, and he recoded 3 LPs one of them with Paco de Lucia, collaborating through the time on a lot of recordings and worldwide touring. At the same time also he meets Camaron, and records in 'La leyenda del Tiempo.' Also in the flamenco recording studios Amor de Dios he collaborated with all the new artists 'los jovenes flamencos' that were around Madrid at that time and the flute and sax are linked to the world of flamenco since then.

This new proposal for the stage 'Huellas' has a Jazz and flamenco flavour and is full of freshness and vitality, and somehow, combines avant-garde composer next to the distilled and concentrated flamenco essence.
